Day 4: Chiang Mai
Breakfast at the hotel and city tour of Chiang Mai. On the hills surrounding the city (1060m altitude) you
find the beautiful Wat Prathat Doi Suthep. The temple, with its imposing golden pagodas, is the symbol of
the city. You can reach the temple with the comfortable elevators or
climbing the 300 steps of an ancient staircase. Afterwards you will
continue towards the mountain of Doi Pui to visit a picturesque village
of the Hmong ethnic group which is located in a jungle landscape off
the tourism paths. Return to Chiang Mai for lunch on the banks of the
Ping River in the welcoming Rommai Rimping restaurant which offers
exquisite regional and Thai cuisine in a relaxing atmosphere. After lunch
you will head to the historic center. The most important temples and
monuments of the city are located within its square-shaped walls, once
protected by high and imposing walls, now in ruins. You will visit the wonderful Wat Phra Sing, two buildings
with an original and characteristic, carved wooden structure, decorated with gold inserts. Besides there is
the funerary pagoda of King Mengrai and the ancient library of the monks. Afterwards you will make an
excursion in a horse-drawn carriage to discover the ruins of the temples of the ancient city of Wiang Kum
Kam, along the quiet country roads of rural province of Chiang Mai, where it seems as if time has stood still.
Return to the hotel. Dinner at free disposal and overnight stay in Chang Mai.
Day 5: Chiang Rai.
After breakfast, check-out and departure to visit the Chiang Rai province. Leaving Chiang Mai the tour
continues to the northeast to the Wat
Phrathat Mon Phrachao Lai complex
(Wat Prachao Luang). You will go to the
highest point of the still unknown
monastery with a magnificent view to
the river. Afterwards the tour proceeds
with the visit of the beautiful Wat Rong
Khun, better known as the White
Temple of Chiang Rai. Lunch near the
temple, before continuing north to the jungle-covered peaks which caracterize the natural border between
Thailand and Burma. In a short distance there is the Golden Triangle, one of the most famous places in
Southeast Asia, where the waters of the
great Mekong River unites Burma,
Thailand and Laos. Visit of the "Black
House" and the Baan Dam Museum,
before arriving in Chiang Rai where you
will admire the spectacular Wat Rong
Suea Ten (Blue Temple) which
combines the Buddhist and modern art
in a perfect way. Together with the White
Temple it is undoubtedly one of the most evocative and magical temples in Thailand. Transfer to the Nai Ya
Hotel (accomodation in superior rooms) or Le Patta (accomodation in deluxe rooms). Dinner at free disposal
and overnight stay in Chiang Raii.
Day 6: Start from Chiang Rai
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out by 12 noon. Transfer to Chiang Rai airport, operated by the resort with
an English guide, to coincide with the chosen flight. Arrival in Bangkok and transfer to the hotel. Free dinner
Day 7: Return
Breakfast, free time until transfer to Bangkok International Airport
