Laos Trekking in the North

Itinerary:
Day 1 - Arrival. Luang Prabang.
Once you arrive you will be welcomed and accompanied to your hotel.
Free Time - Overnight.
Day 2 - Luang Prabang - Full day city tour.
This morning, right after breakfast, you will start your city tour with a visit to the Royal Palace Museum,
where you will immerse yourself in the daily life of the last royal families who ruled Laos before the Phatet
Lao took power. After the Royal Palace it will be the turn of the Huan
Chuan Heritage House where you can admire the architectural charm of
this building and learn the historical connections in common with the royal
palace. Afterwards we will visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with its
particular roof which is an example of the classic Laotian architecture.
Today you will also visit the beautiful Wat Mai and stupa of Wat Visoun,
immediately after you will go to the Arts and Ethnology Center to better
understand which ethnic minorities live in Laos and what their customs
and traditions are. In the afternoon you will explore the village of Ban
Xienglek famous for their excellent textile work with the possibility of buying some artifacts. To round off the
day, climb to the top of Mount Phousi for a pleasant exploration of the secrets of the golden stupa and to
enjoy the spectacular view of the city and the Mekong during sunset.
Day 3 - Luang Prabang - Tak Bat - villaggio Hmong e trekking alle cascate Kuang Si.
This morning at first light of the sun you will take part in the Tak Bat (procession of the monks) or an ancient
Buddhist ritual that still today in Luang Prabang is followed by the local
monks, before returning to the hotel for breakfast you will stop in a local
market. After breakfast you will drive to the village of Hmong Ban Longlao
where you will learn about this ethnic minority with its traditional uses and
customs completely different from the Lao people. The Village also
coincides with the starting point for direct trekking to the Kuang Si
Waterfall, you will walk through the forest and the jungle in the wildest
nature. Once you reach the waterfalls you can cool off with a leisurely
swim in one of the many natural pools of crystal clear water or take a walk
along the forest paths surrounding the waterfalls. Near the waterfall it is also possible to visit the Bear
Rescue Center or an organization that protects a particular Asian bear. Before returning to the city you will
stop at the Butterfly Park where you can admire splendid specimens of butterflies. Tips: bring a towel if you
decide to bathe in one of the natural pools
Overnight Luang Prabang.
Day 4 - Luang Prabang - Oudomxay .
This morning immediately after having breakfast, you will set off for North towards Oudomxay. In the first
stretch of this wonderful overland you will skirt the beautiful Nam Ou river
and, immediately after the lunch break in Pakmong, you will begin the
second stretch of the over where the panorama changes completely. This
stretch of road is ethnologically interesting for the large number of ethnic
minority villages scattered in this area, so you can stop at several of these
villages including Ban Xong Ja, a very interesting Hmong village. Total
duration: 7 hours Transfer by car: 5 hours
