Day 7 - (Chiang Rai – Lamphum).
After breakfast we leave for Lamphun to visit the wonderful temples
1. Wat Phra That Hariphunchai: Wat Phra That Hariphunchai is a Buddhist temple in Lamphun, The
origins of the temple date back to the 11th century, but the
central stupa is thought to have originated in the 9th century.
Wat Phra That Hariphunchai's first origins date back to 897
when it is said that the then king of Hariphunchai built a stupa
(now the central stupa) to house a hair of the Buddha. The
present complex, founded by Hariphunchai King Athitayarai,
dates back to 1044. The temple was first rebuilt in 1443 by the
king Tilokaraja from the kingdom of Lanna, Chiang Mai. The
pyramid-shaped Chedi Suwanna temple was built in 1418. In
the 1930s the temple restorations were done by the northern
Thai monk Khru Ba Sriwichai. The 1443 restoration enlarged and enhanced the central stupa,
including the incorporation of Buddha images. a republic on bronze sheets affixed to the bell stupa
element (anda). These replicas of Buddha are indicative of the classical period of Lanna.Chedi
Suwanna The unusual Chedi Suwanna, shaped like a pyramid, 46 m high in the northwest of the
complex it is in the style of Dvaravati from the Haripunchai period and is believed to be modeled on
similar stupas at nearby Wat Chama Thewi (Wat Kukut). the reverse of the one-satang coin. Wat
Phra That Hariphunchai "Wihan houses a 15th century Lanna Buddha. Near the wihan there is a
19th century library. The library staircase features naga images. Also near the wihan is a large bronze
gong, presumably the largest in the world. The gong dates back to 1860. The southwestern corner of
the temple complex has a jagged stone with four footprints. Worshipers believe these confirm the
legend of a visit by the Buddha to the area.

Sukhothai. Sukhothai is located 12 km west of the modern city of
Sukhothai Thani. Sukhothai is from the Sanskrit sukha (सुख

a pond, a "wonderful mirror of water as clear and delicious as the"
water of the Mekong in the dry season ".
Aranyika Monastery was to the west of the city, a large lake to the east, a market to the north, and Khao
Luang Hill to the south. Old Sukhothai is a quiet city with hardly any hotels.
