Day 4 - Vang Vieng - Luang Prabang by land.
This morning you will start heading towards Luang Prabang, the route will offer you spectacular views of the
surrounding landscape so keep your camera handy. As a first step in your
transfer, you will be staying at the Phatang Mountain viewpoint, followed
by a visit to Koe Kuang local market where you will find special products
such as mice, insects of all kinds, snakes and reptiles of various species.
Next stop Phou Phueng Fa from where you can admire one of the most
spectacular views of Laos and where there will be occasion to have lunch
in a local restaurant. After lunch we will continue our journey to the Khmu
village of Ban Kiu Kam Pone where you will be able to interact with one
of the most particular ethnic minorities in the area. As a last stop before
arriving at your destination you will stop at Houi Hei where you can admire a spectacular view of the
surrounding mountains. You will arrive in Luang Prabang in the early afternoon and the rest of the day is at
your complete disposal. Overnight in Luang Prabang.
Day 5: Luang Prabang – hal Day City Tour - Crociera sul Mekong cave of Pak Ou.
This morning, immediately after breakfast, you will start your city tour, strolling through the city center will
visit the Royal Palace Museum, where you will immerse yourself in the
daily life of the last royal families who ruled Laos before the Phatet Lao
took power. Afterwards we will visit the magnificent Wat Xiengthong with
its particular roof which is an example of the classic Laotian architecture.
Today you will also visit the beautiful Wat Mai and stupa of Wat Visoun,
immediately after you will go to the Arts and Ethnology Center to better
understand which ethnic minorities live in Laos and what their customs
and traditions are. After lunch you will board a boat for an excursion on
the Mekong River in the direction of the Pak Ou Caves, that is two
interconnected caves holding thousands of golden statues, of various shapes and sizes, representing the
Buddha left here by the pilgrims on pilgrimage. Along the way back we will stop at the village of Ban
Muangkeo, famous for its textile work and the production of rice whiskey. Overnight in Luang Prabang
Day 6: Luang Prabang - Paddy experience - Kuang Si Falls.
Transfer by car this morning to the Living Lands organic farm, where you meet the local agricultural guide.
You are invited to interact and experiment with every phase of rice
harvesting, learning how rice is traditionally cultivated in a very interactive
way. The tour ends with a tasting of traditional rice-based foods. You will
have a new appreciation for laughter and admiration for the people of
Laos who until today continue to harvest rice without modern machinery.
In the afternoon you will go to the spectacular and famous Khuang Si
waterfalls where you can cool off with a leisurely swim in one of the many
natural pools of crystal clear water or take a walk along the paths of the
forest surrounding the waterfalls. Near the waterfall it is also possible to
visit the Bear Rescue Center or an organization that protects a particular
Asian bear. Before returning to the city you will stop at the Butterfly Park where you can admire splendid
specimens of butterflies.
Opzionale: Sunset on the Mekong boat
In the late afternoon you will be accompanied to the embarkation point and on board
a comfortable traditional boat you will be able to witness a wonderful sunset while the
Mekong slowly transports you with its light current. On board you can enjoy some
snacks and a glass of wine. You will return to the city early in the evening.
Overnight at Luang Prabang.
